Writing Process is a concept in the teaching of writing and an important research concept in the field of composition.

Usually, the Writing Process is broken up into five sections:

1. Prewriting- outline, bullet points, brainstorming notes
2. Drafting- rough draft(s)
3. Revising- reviewing and beginning stages of editing
4. Editing- adding, removing, improving words, sentences and structure
5. Publishing- producing copies

Following the Writing Process can vastly improve a writer's product and make the process of creating a document run smoothly.
